As this Author, you will be working closely with software development teams to source the required information from which you will create reference and tutorial information. This role requires excellent personal communication skills, as you will be primarily creating developer documentation relating to statistical procedures.

Job Description

This role involves a lot of investigating how the software works including using the programming languages to test your understanding and produce examples.

  • Research, write, and maintain developer documentation
  • Contribute to end-user documentation as required
  • Review and copy edit documentation to ensure consistency
  • Work with software developers, customer support and QA teams to update documentation to reflect customer feedback and new features
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Estimating documentation effort and planning documentation delivery for software releases
  • Contribute to the standards and processes used to create and deliver documentation

Person Specification

  • A mathematics or equivalent primary degree.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Information gathering (such as interviewing engineers, extracting information from source code and specifications, research content and extrapolate from that content).
  • An eye for detail when writing, editing or proofreading text.
  • Able to communicate complex information succinctly and clearly.

The following are desirable

  • Experience creating tutorials, training manuals or training guides
  • Programming knowledge or experience
  • DITA/XML experience, with a good knowledge of single-source authoring.
  • Understanding of source control, and the GIT tool.
  • Good working knowledge of technical communication tools, such as Oxygen, XMetal or Arbortext.
